Almost the Gloaming
Image information
Description
I was inspired to create a landscape that gave the feeling of that fantastic word gloaming. How I love old Scots words - they are beautifully descriptive and so poetic. Gloaming is the part of the day after the sun has gone down and before the sky is completely dark. This isn't quite 'gloaming' but it's only a minute or two away from it! 'Almost the Gloaming' Unison pastels on Art Spectrum paper. 23cm x 30cm. From plein air sketches and photos of a scene I see every Wednesday evening as I drive to work to teach my pastel class. I often stop to sketch and just look at the beauty around me and think I know it so well I could paint it from memory!
