Inspirations : With its head nestled in the crook of its master’s arm, dreaming its doggy dreams, is man’s trusted and loyal companion. Dogs offer unconditional love and affection to man and rejoice in life's simplest moments. Being with its master is like Christmas morning. We, in turn, allow them into our homes, on our furniture, and into our beds. We experience joy in our dog’s inherent joie de vivre. This human-animal bond is depicted in this pastel painting of man in a cosy snuggle with his best friend. It’s their routine, their ritual.

References: Thanks to my fellow pastelist - Carole Devereux from La Washington, on her generosity in sharing a very personal reference of both her beloved hubby (Greg) dozing with Quinn (Golden retriever). Carole is not only a passionate artist but also a superb photographer. She also specializes in an area that is very "foreign" in my part of the world – an ‘Animal whisperer!’. Yes!, she can communicate with animals and offer stress therapy and animal counseling as well! My knowledge of this is only limited to a movie called “Horse whisperer’ starring Robert Redford. Quinn is indeed very fortunate to be living under the same roof with this loving couple, in fact a mutual blessing.
